Inside Our School

Santa Dash!

Radlett Prep was brimming with excitement and holiday spirit this week as pupils took part in our much-loved Festive Santa Dash! The playground and hall were alive with laughter, energy, and plenty of Christmas magic.

Our Year 6 pupils stepped into the spotlight, donning vibrant costumes as Santa Claus and his mischievous elves. Their mission? To spread joy and festive fun across the school—and they certainly delivered!

Children in Years 1 and 2 made the most of their PE lessons, chasing Santa and his cheeky helpers with determination and delight. The air was filled with cheers and giggles as everyone tried to catch Santa before he dashed away. Did anyone succeed? Let’s just say Santa was extra speedy this year!

Adding to the excitement, Year 2 turned up the festive fun with an energetic round of Snowball Dodgeball, bravely taking on Santa and his elves in a flurry of flying snowballs. It was a thrilling match full of dodges, dives, and endless laughter.

To top it all off, prizes were up for grabs, sprinkling an extra layer of competition and joy over the day’s festivities.

What a fantastic way to celebrate the end of term—a day filled with teamwork, festive fun, and plenty of smiles. Thank you to everyone who made this event so special!

Year 5 Visit to British Schools Museum, Hitchin

Year 5 visit the British Schools Museum in Hitchin to enrich their topic learning all about the Victorian period. As part of the immersive experience, the children are transported back in time to an 1880 Victorian classroom and participate in the three traditional lessons of reading, writing and arithmetic, as well as learning about the strict punishments that were used, such as the dunce’s cap and the cane. Additionally, pupils also take part in a guided tour of the period headmaster's house, finding out how people in 1880 spent their time at home, how they ate, kept warm and clean, all without the modern materials and technology that make our lives easier today.

Wellie Walk

There was a buzz of excitement around the school on Wednesday, 15th October as children eagerly prepared for our very first Welly Walk! With wellies on and smiles wide, pupils and staff set off class by class to explore the perimeter of the school, strolling through fields and soaking up the fresh autumn air.

The walk was filled with joyful energy—there were conga lines, marching, and plenty of singing! Halfway through, everyone paused for a well-earned treat of hot chocolate before heading to the gardens and onto the field for a hilarious Welly Wanging competition. Laughter echoed as children flung their wellies as far as they could, hoping to win a coveted certificate or trophy. Winners from each year group will be celebrated in our next Celebration Assembly, with special trophies awarded to the overall champions.

The adventure continued through the woods to the fire pit, where children toasted marshmallows and enjoyed them while sitting on logs, surrounded by the beauty of the season. It was a memorable day full of fun, friendship, and fresh air!  Money raised will be going towards the mini-bus.

Remembrance Day

On 11/11/2025 the whole school gathered for a special Remembrance Assembly led by Mrs Flynn. She explained the significance of wearing poppies and why we pause each year on 11 November to remember those who served and sacrificed.

Throughout the past week, our House Captains have been busy selling poppies and other merchandise to pupils and parents, helping to raise funds for the Royal British Legion. We hope to have raised a generous amount for this important cause.

At 11:00am, the entire school stood together on the playground for two minutes of silence, with the Union Jack flag waving proudly in the wind.

Many classes had created beautiful wreaths by cutting and colouring poppies, while Theo impressed everyone with a felt poppy he carefully stitched by hand.

To mark the occasion, School Councillors from each class placed a ceramic poppy beneath the flag. These poppies were originally part of the iconic display at the Tower of London, making this moment even more meaningful.

Lest we forget.
